Guilty by Association
Cheyenne Saloon, Las Vegas
First rule of punk is if you can't be good, be loud. And dear sweet Jesus, were they loud.

The Lovemakers
Times of Romance
I would say this is the best bit of Euro-dance-pop I've heard in a while. Except they're from Oakland.
There's the Duran Duran new-wave dramatics ("Prepare for the Fight"), synth-bass that Fischerspooner would be proud of ("Is It Alright?"), and the requisite don't - go - breaking - my - heart song ("Falling Apart"). Streams.

Sic Waiting, Flight Risk
Cooler Lounge, Las Vegas
I haven't been writing much about the smaller shows I go to -- mostly because they suck. That, and it looks a lot cooler when I have a ticket to post. Occasionally there will be a standout performance -- the Cooler brought me Manda and the Marbles last year. But usually all I'm counting on these shows to deliver is music that's loud and fast. And that was pretty much the case tonight. Sic Waiting was a little off -- I think they were missing a few band members. But Flight Risk was definitely firing on all cylinders.

Boingboing is a general all-purpose blog, with a handful of regular contributors, one of whom is Cory Doctorow, my new favorite science-fiction writer. Self-described as "a directory of wonderful things", topics are all over the place, but they seem to center around...
If you're a fan of Wired, or your name is Craig and you have a List, you'll feel right at home here.

For the most part, I'm trying to stay out of the Google vs. The World debate, but I can't help but draw attention to Yahoo Search. Even when someone tries to emulate Google's minimalist design, they can't help but %*@# it up with needless page elements, like these news headlines.
